Currents, released in 2015, was a bold pivot for Kevin Parker, the Australian multi instrumentalist from Perth who had built his reputation on psychedelic rock. With Currents, Parker shifted away from the guitar driven sound of previous albums into a more polished, synth heavy exploration. Self produced and recorded almost entirely by Parker in isolation, the
