Skin Preparation Do this: Shower and exfoliate 2-3 hours before getting dressed Skip heavy lotions, oils, or body butter Use a light, fast-absorbing moisturizer if needed Apply deodorant and let it dry completely Set makeup with powder in areas where dress touches skin Avoid this: Applying perfume where the dress sits (breaks down adhesive) Putting on the dress with wet or damp skin Using shimmer or glitter products on your back (makes tape slip) The 15-Minute Pre-Event Check Right before you leave: Put on your dress and secure all fashion tape Do a full movement test (sit, stand, raise arms, bend) Check side and back views in a full-length mirror Have someone take test photos with flash (shows exactly what camera sees) Make any final tape adjustments Keep extra tape in your bag for touch-ups Movement Strategies for All-Night Security Smart moves: Sit with your back straight against the chair back (keeps dress in place) When dancing, avoid excessive jumping or leaning far forward If you need to bend, do it at the knees rather than the waist Hold the skirt when climbing stairs to avoid pulling on the bodice Photo positioning: Turn slightly to the side for back detail shots (most flattering angle) Stand up straight with shoulders back (prevents fabric bunching) Have someone check your dress from behind between photo sessions Quick Fixes If Something Shifts If you feel the dress slipping: Find a private spot (bathroom or quiet corner) Reposition the bodice where it belongs Add fresh fashion tape if the original pieces lost grip Adjust any built-in bra cups or padding Use a safety pin as temporary backup if tape won’t hold Most slipping happens in the first hour as you settle into the dress
