The 1813 model was carried first by Hussar units during the Napoleonic Wars and later given to artillery and ammo regiments. This example is stamped on the ricasso: W. R. KIRSCHBAUM SOLINGEN This denotes manufacture by Wilhelm Reinhardt Kirschbaum of Solingen, one of the most famous blade makers in German history. The top of the
