Purchased directly from a collector, this is a very nice late war style mid grade Japanese officer Katana, with an arsenal made blade. It is in the standard 1944 pattern Shin Gunto setting, and is dated December 1944 on the blade tang. It also is signed by the smith who made it, FUJIKATSU. A Shin Gunt (, new military sword) is a weapon and symbol of rank used by the Imperial Japanese Army between the years of 1935
