Called in German a Infanterie Sturmabzeichen in Silber, this genuine badge is constructed of silvered zinc. Over time, the silver often oxidizes and flakes off, so they appear dark gray, however that is not the case on this example. It still retains much of the original silver wash, however it has oxidized and tarnish to a dark patina where it is still retained. It's very rare to see them in this condition! The
